We had the worst experience of our lives visiting Parkway Dental in April 2017. They refused service to me, my husband, and our 3- and 4-year-old children because my husband was asking about the wording of a contract they were asking us to sign as new patients. The document asked for our consent to provide a myriad of dental procedures, including pulling teeth. My husband (a lawyer) said that he would prefer to be consulted before any procedures took place rather than to give his blanket consent for the long list of procedures. The contract did not include wording about giving verbal consent first. I was willing to sign the agreement and one for each of our children so that the children could get their teeth cleaned since we made the 30 minute drive to our appointment. But the dentist refused. We were told that if we don't agree "as a family" then perhaps we'd be happier elsewhere. We were shocked and stunned at being treated this way in response to my husband being a conscientious reviewer of contract language. I cannot speak to the dental care since they would not treat us, but the front desk staff were very friendly. The waiting area does not have any toys or books for kids. I'm not sure why they consider themselves a "family dental" practice.
Dr. Gilmer has been my dentist since I was a little tyke and I am in my thirties now. He has always done fabulous work on my teeth. Always been super respectful and nice. I will never forget when I was 20 and my son, who was a toddler at the time, bumped his head into my mouth and done damage to two of my front teeth. Dr. Gilmer helped adjust my bill to where I was able to afford it. My smile could have been ruined, but he fixed my teeth and I'm forever grateful. I won't forget the hospitality he extended to me. You rock Dr. Gilmer!
We love going to Parkway Dental. Dr. Gilmer and his staff have been handling our cleanings for years. Once we had kids, my oldest started there started there for cleanings. My youngest son has Down Syndrome, so initially it was recommended that we use a pediatric dentist, which we tried with no success. After that, Dr. Gilmer’s staff worked with my son and has been successfully performing his cleanings. They are patient, gentle and never push beyond his comfort level and this is a biggie with special needs and dentistry, I am welcomed to attend his visits. Thank you, Parkway for making going to the dentist a great experience for our whole family!
